What is a Morning erection? Is it healthy?
Also known as morning wood or morning glory. This is for men, of course :)

Ever woke up with an eretion in the morning? Probably yes!. A morning erection or a ( Nocturnal penile tumescence ) (NPT) is a normal physiological event. It occurs during the stage of REM sleep 'deep sleep' as you go through different alternating stages during sleep.

REM Sleep is the stage/time of dreams and brain activity changes during sleep. The exact cause of NPT is not known yet.

Causes of morning erection:

It occur about 3-5 times per night during your sleep, so if you woke up during the REM sleep stage you will have an erection that is maintained for about 20 minutes. This can occur in some days, every day or doesn't occur. The exact cause of NPT is not known yet.

What if I don't get morning erection very often?

It's absence doesn't indicate any abnormality or disease, as you may wake up during another stge of sleep other than REM.

Physicians use Nocturnal penile tumescence to asses cases of Penile Dysfunction and to decide wether it's psycological or physiological. If a patient can't have an erection in response to sexual stimuli and doesn't have morning erection, then the cause of dysfunction is physiological.

If he still can have morning erection then the cause of dysfunction is just psychological.

So,yes a morning erection is a normal physiological sign of health and you don't have to worry about that. :)

Yep, it is a great way to determine if a man suffers from performance anxiety and cannot get an erection.
